ALN Specialist Learning Support Assistants needed in Newport

Staffroom Education are recruiting talented Learning Support Assistants who specialise in Additional Learning Needs. We are seeking candidates who demonstrate the skills needed to motivate, enthuse, support and challenge pupils.

We welcome applications who have qualifications, training or experience in Additional Learning Needs. All the posts available in Newport are within English Medium Secondary and Primary schools, either on a temporary day to day or on a long-term basis.

The perfect candidate for this post will have all the skills listed below:

  • A good understanding of Additional Learning Needs;

  • Qualifications or training e.g. Team Teach;

  • Intervention experience;

  • The ability to support the class teacher and follow planning/timetables;

  • Excellent behaviour strategies;

  • Strong communication skills;

  • The ability to work with groups or pupils or as a one to one basis;

  • Promote positive attitudes towards learning and build strong relationships with staff and pupils;

  • To remain up to date with educational developments and changes whilst undertaking the role;

  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection;

  • A current and clear, fully-enhanced DBS disclosure certificate;

  • Full registration with the Education Workforce Council.
